1 Overview
SimpleBlocksite is a browser extension designed to block websites and track time spent on domains to help users manage focus and productivity.
We are committed to transparency and privacy. SimpleBlocksite does not sell personal data and does not use advertising trackers.
Most data is processed and stored locally on your device.
2 Data We Access
To function properly, SimpleBlocksite accesses:
- Website URLs and domain names of pages you visit
- Time spent on each domain
- User-defined block lists and time limits
- Extension settings and preferences
This access is required solely to provide website blocking and time tracking functionality.
3 How Data Is Stored
Browsing activity, time tracking data, block lists, and settings are stored locally using Chrome's
built-in chrome.storage API.
No browsing history or time tracking data is transmitted to any remote server controlled by the developer.
4 External Favicon Services
To display website icons within the extension interface, SimpleBlocksite may request favicon images from third-party favicon services such as:
- icons.duckduckgo.com
- www.google.com/s2/favicons
When a favicon is requested, the domain name of the website may be sent to the selected favicon provider for the sole purpose of retrieving the corresponding icon image.
No additional browsing history, time tracking data, personal identifiers, or user account information is transmitted by SimpleBlocksite.
These third-party services operate independently. Users should review their respective privacy policies for more information.
5 Data Sharing
SimpleBlocksite does not:
- Sell user data
- Share user data with advertisers
- Transfer time tracking data to analytics platforms
- Store browsing history on external servers
Apart from favicon retrieval requests described above, user browsing data remains on the device.
6 Permissions Justification
SimpleBlocksite requests the following permissions:
- storage: to save block lists, time limits, and usage data locally
- tabs and webNavigation: to detect active domains and enforce blocking rules
- scripting: to display notifications or blocking pages within the browser
- host permissions (http and https): to apply blocking rules across websites
These permissions are used strictly to provide core functionality.
7 Children's Privacy
SimpleBlocksite is not directed toward children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8 Changes to This Policy
If the extension's data practices change, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly. Continued use of SimpleBlocksite after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
