How to install SimpleBlocksite
- Visit the Chrome Web Store listing
- Click "Add to Chrome"
- Click "Add extension" in the permission popup
- The SimpleBlocksite icon appears in your toolbar -you're ready to go
How to block a site
- Click the SimpleBlocksite icon in your toolbar
- Type the domain you want to block (e.g. facebook.com)
- Select "Block" for full blocking
- Click "+ Block this site" -done
How to set a daily time limit
- Open the SimpleBlocksite popup or dashboard
- Enter the site domain
- Select "Daily Limit" and choose your time (5 min to 10 hours)
- Click "+ Add a daily limit"
- The site is accessible until your daily limit is reached, then blocked for the rest of the day

Yes, completely free. No premium tier, no hidden costs, no paywalls. Every feature is available from day one.
Block: Completely prevents access to the website. You'll see a blocked page when trying to visit.
Daily Limit: Allows you to visit the site for a set amount of time each day (e.g., 30 minutes). Once you reach your limit, the site is blocked until the next reset.
Yes! You can block specific URL paths like youtube.com/shorts instead of the entire youtube.com. This lets you block distracting sections while keeping access to useful content.
Go to the "Blocked sites" page in the dashboard, find the site in your list, and click the trash icon to remove it.
Go to chrome://extensions, find SimpleBlocksite, click "Details", and toggle on "Allow in Incognito".
When you're on a site with a daily limit, a countdown notification appears on the page showing your remaining time. You can drag this notification anywhere on the page. When less than 1 minute remains, it turns red with a blinking icon to warn you.
All daily limits reset automatically at midnight (12:00 AM) in your local timezone. You can customize the reset time in Settings.
Yes. If you have YouTube, Spotify, or other media playing in a background tab, that time still counts toward your daily limit for that site.
Yes! Go to Settings and use the Schedule section. You can set specific time ranges (e.g., 9am-6pm) and select which days of the week the schedule applies to. You can create up to 3 time slots for complex schedules.
Go to the "Statistics" page in the dashboard to see your total browsing time, top visited sites with pie charts, category breakdowns, and daily trends. Use the period filters (Today, 7 Days, 30 Days, 90 Days, All Time) to view different time ranges.
1. Check that the URL matches exactly (watch for typos or missing subdomains).
2. Refresh the page after adding a site.
3. Make sure the extension is enabled in Chrome.
4. If using Incognito, verify "Allow in Incognito" is enabled.
5. Try restarting Chrome.
Go to Settings and find the "Backup & Restore" section. Click "Create Backup" to download your data as a JSON file. To restore, click "Restore Backup" and select your backup file. Note: restoring will replace all existing data.
No. SimpleBlocksite runs entirely locally in your browser. It does not connect to external servers, does not track your activity, and does not share any data with third parties. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
All your data (blocked sites, limits, browsing stats, settings) is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API. Nothing is uploaded to any server. You can export and backup your settings from the Settings page at any time.
Right-click the SimpleBlocksite icon in your toolbar and select "Remove from Chrome", or go to chrome://extensions and click Remove.
